Math Olympiad 

Grades 4-5

The Math Olympiad club is built around the MOEMS (Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle

Schools) program (https://moems.org/information), with the following key goals:

• To stimulate enthusiasm and a love for mathematics
• To introduce mathematical concepts and teach strategies for problem solving
• To foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity
• To provide the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of solving mathematical challenges

The club meets once a week for six weeks at Caraway Elementary to tackle challenging mathematical problems. Working together we build strategies to effectively address them and discuss the weaknesses and strengths of alternative approaches.

For those students that are interested, we will be looking into forming the 2024/2025

Caraway Math Olympiad team that will participate in the MOEMS contests (max. 25 students). The

MOEMS Math Olympiad consists of 5 contests that take place once a month from November to March.
