MATH PENTATHLON

For Math Pentathlon, the kids are grouped into three groups -- Division 1 (kinder/1st grade), Division 2 (2nd/3rd grade) and Division 3 (4th/5th grade). The kids learn and play five games designed by the Math Pentathlon institute (see http://www.mathpentath.org) that reinforce principles of Math and Logic. More importantly, the kids learn good sportsmanship playing games against each other throughout the year. At the end of the year, the kids can optionally participate in a district wide tournament. The PTA usually subsidizes a part of the entrance fee for the tournament.
